NYCPS Education Administrator and Principal Claudia Aguirre
A proven leader in New York City's education system, Claudia Aguirre has served New York City Public Schools as an education administrator since 2020. In this position, Claudia Aguirre manages all multilingual language learner (MLL) programming and guides principals and superintendents toward established benchmarks for MLLs. She has also greatly expanded the district's MLL capacity.
Ms. Aguirre previously worked for five years as the principal of Sojourner Truth School, turning around one of the lowest-performing Harlem Community Schools. She managed a $ 3.5 million budget to support the school's organizational goals and drive academic outcomes for all students. She gained further experience as a principal at Dual Language Middle School and New Leaders for New Schools.
A psychology graduate of Columbia College at Columbia University, Ms. Aguirre also earned a degree in developmental and remedial reading from City University of New York. She subsequently completed a principal fellowship with New Leaders for New Schools and a New York Schools school administrator and supervisor certificate program at the City University of New York's Baruch College School of Public Affairs. She has completed additional education and professional development with the Leadership for Educational Achievement Foundation's Future Superintendents Academy and the Bank Street College School of Education.
